BrainView NeuralScan System: Cognition and Pre & Post Concussive Assessment

BrainView Neural Scan System

The BrainView Neural scan system is a technology that our medical providers use to perform cognitive assessments and post concussive assessments. In order to perform these assessments a patient must complete a questionnaire that provides their medical practitioner with information needed to aid in diagnosing a patient. The BrianView Neural scan system conducts and provides a test of the brain to help providers understand and determine what is going on in the brain. The BrainView Neural scan system contains software that measures neuro functions of the brain and heart. The system is designed to measure and provide results, give a summary of data collected, collect raw data, and produce images. The system is portable and easy to use. When conducting a scan the process is non-invasive and pain free for the patient. The system can aid and detect early-onset memory loss and dementia as it scans and conducts its cognitive assessment. The machine is also designed to perform pre and post concussive assessments.

Cognitive Assessments

Cognitive assessments/tests measure a person’s ability to think which involves problem solving, reasoning, perception, memory, verbal ability, and mathematical ability. Impairment to one’s cognitive functions can occur at any age and for many different reasons. Sleep disorders, stress levels, pain, dementia, and head injuries can all cause cognitive impairment. With the help of a BrainView NeuralScan system physicians can assess patients for cognitive impairment. Cognitive Assessments must also be performed when a head injury occurs to assess a person’s brain functions. If left un-assessed, head injuries can lead to more problems for a patient and negatively affect their cognitive functions. Thus, leading to systems of functional impairment and what is also known as “brain fog”.

Post Concussive Assessments

A post concussive assessment is performed when a patient sustains a head injury from a fall, playing contact sports or accidents. These symptoms can occur after head trauma has happened to the patient. Physical impact, whiplash, or heavy jolting can all be factors of trauma that can occur. It is important to consult a medical professional if you are experiencing symptoms after a concussion. If you are experiencing post concussion symptoms don’t hesitate to call us and schedule an assessment today.

Symptoms & Signs of Concussions

Over 80% of people show signs after trauma has occurred. These signs and symptoms can be physical or cognitive/behavioral. The most common symptoms are headaches, confusion, dizziness and fatigue. Come in for a consultation if you experienced or currently have any of the following symptoms so you could be properly evaluated…

  • Headaches
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Inability to concentrate
  • Irritability
  • Confusion
  • Emotional differences/changes
  • Dizziness
  • Drowsiness
  • Sleepiness/Fatigue
  • Cognitive changes

Benefits of a BrainView Neural Scan System

There are many different benefits that can come from using a BrainView Neural Scan System which include…

  • Aids in improving clinical outcomes
  • Non-invasive and easy assessments
  • Assessments can be conducted in office
  • Uses ANS/HRV, EEG, and ERP biomarkers
  • Allows physicians to come up with effective treatment plans
  • Allows treatment to begin early for patients
  • Effective in helping those with chronic pain
  • Aids in diagnosis for memory loss

Treatment & Recovery

Treatment for post concussive systems can be done after symptoms have been reported and cognitive tests have been conducted. Both physical and cognitive tests are conducted which check a patient’s ability to perform both physically and mentally. Most common treatment for concussions includes rest and activity restrictions. For more serious cases of concussions, further testing and neurology consult may be recommended to prevent further complications. Cognitive rehabilitation may be needed for the recovery process to occur. This is why it is important to have a proper medical evaluation if you endured a concussion so you could be prescribed the correct treatment plan and follow-up care. After symptoms are no longer present patients can go back to doing their normal daily activities once they are cleared by a physician. It is important to schedule a follow up appointment to follow along with the recovery process.
